The SS Ballarat sailed from London, England, on June 13, 1872. It arrived Napier, New Zealand, on September 01, 1872, after a voyage of 87 days.

A total of 77 Danish emigrants are recorded in the passenger list, including sixteen Danish families who travelled from Denmark to England to join the Ballarat which sailed to New Zealand with English, Scottish, Irish and Danish immigrants.
