He was christened 3, 4 on 03 Dec 1826 in Aker, Vestre Aker, Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. He died 5 on 24 Feb 1886 in Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. He was buried 6, 7 on 26 Feb 1886 in Norsewood Cemetery, Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Johan was employed 8, 9 as a fabriksnedker (joiner in a factory) in 1865, and as a labourer, joiner and farmer in 1872. He was counted in a census 10, 11 in 1865 in 216 Maridalsveien, Gamle Aker, Kristiania (Now Oslo), Norway. He emigrated 12, 13 on 31 May 1872 from Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway, aboard SS "Høvding". He immigrated on 01 Sep 1872 to Napier, New Zealand (bound for Norsewood). He was naturalized on 22 Nov 1876. He had a will probated 14 in 1886 in Napier High Court, Napier, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.

Johan married 1 Anne Marie HALVORSDATTER daughter of Halvor GUNDERSEN and Birthe Maria (Maria) OLSDATTER on 26 Dec 1851 in Aker, Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. Anne was born 2, 3, 4 on 17 Aug 1821 in Haabel (Håbøl), Østfold, Norway. She was christened 5, 6 on 26 Aug 1821 in Haabel (Håbøl), Østfold, Norway. She died 7, 8 on 14 Oct 1893 in Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. She was buried 9, 10, 11 on 16 Oct 1893 in Norsewood Cemetery, Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Anne was counted in a census 12, 13 in 1865 in 216 Maridalsveien, Gamle Aker, Kristiania (Now Oslo), Norway. She emigrated 14, 15 on 31 May 1872 from Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway, aboard SS "Høvding". She immigrated on 01 Sep 1872 to Napier, New Zealand (bound for Norsewood).
